Financial Times – OfficePOD Coverage

We got some positive coverage from the Trendspotter section of The Financial Times on May 23rd.

‘OfficePOD is marketing to companies with staff who could work from home, offering a service that will supply, install and maintain an office capsule.  It calculates the average saving from basing a worker at home rather than in central London could be more than £9,000 per year, excluding commuting costs’.

Grand Designs Live – A Great Success

Kevin McCloud

Our invitation to form a central part of Grand Designs Live proved a great success.  As well as the 120,000 members of the public that visited the exhibition, it gave several interested companies the opportunity to come and look at the POD whilst it was on show.

The concept, materials used and quality of the POD were described as ‘outstanding’ by Kevin McCloud and the POD received a wide and comprehensive range of media attention.  It acted as the live radio interview room throughout the period and also featured in Reuters’ online coverage of the event.

One interesting outcome from our consumer market testing at the show is that we are now selling POD’s to small home-based businesses and individuals.  This is in addition to our core offering of the flexible leasing and service agreement model preferred by larger organisations.

OfficePOD at Grand Designs Live

Grand Designs Live 2009

As a result of the high level of recent interest in OfficePOD, Grand Designs Live have asked us to show an OfficePOD at their forthcoming annual event at London’s EXCEL centre.

An OfficePOD will be centre stage and next to the main seminar theatre.  The POD will be used as the quiet space for live radio interviews as well as a backdrop for TV clips.

If you are interested in looking at the POD again or for the first time, please make contact with enquiries@officepod.co.uk. The show runs every day from the 25th April to 4th May.

This includes Fast Company, Springwise, Treehugger and The Green Daily.  One interview from the Preview – http://www.threesacrowdonline.com/articles/Cut-the-Commute/

The online interest has led to an enormous surge in interest with over 20,000 new visitors to the website in the 6 days since the Preview.

We’ll keep you posted on any new and interesting articles as well as the forthcoming piece on WorkplaceTV.

‘Smartworking’ Trend Report on New Ways of Working

Tony Hancock in Office

JBA has drawn together a report on ‘Smartworking’ – a term aimed at encapsulating today’s new working practices and philosophies. JBA’s report looks at the driving forces of cultural and organisational change and clearly frames how quickly viewpoints are changing.

The report provides a ‘roots-to-future’ story of shifting attitudes to work, and to provide perspective on;

  • office demands,
  • workstyle considerations,
  • what’s required to retool management practices,
  • the importance of values and trust,
  • ecologically sustainable and socially just issues,
  • the impact on the corporate agenda, and
  • what the future might hold.
